What does success mean to you?
Some people define success as material wealth, while for others it’s about following a passion, a dream, or a calling. For many, success bridges the gap between these two definitions.
However you view success, it’s probably a very personal definition—and there’s no right or wrong answer.
I can’t speak for everyone, but for me, success is about enjoying what you do. As one of Approved Sheet Metal’s core values—the E in our BEST acronym—” enjoying the journey” is central to who we are.

What does it mean to enjoy the journey?
1. Maintaining a Positive Outlook
Life is full of challenges—and sheet metal shops certainly encounter plenty of challenges each and every day. We can’t control everything that happens to us, but we can control our reactions. When faced with incorrect hardware hole sizes, sheet metal prototyping delays, or the wrong sheet metal bend gains, our team takes a positive approach to problem-solving, making the best of any situation.
2. Celebrating Each Other’s Wins
At ASM, we make it a point to lift each other up whenever possible. When we hit a new record, we make sure the whole shop knows it. When someone completes a job well done, we acknowledge their success. When a customer provides positive feedback, we announce it to the whole shop floor. We take time to celebrate each other’s wins—big or small.
3. Accepting Failure as an Inevitable Part of Growth
If you don’t fail sometimes, you’re probably not learning anything new. Having the freedom to fail, and being able to take away something from the experience of trying and not quite hitting the mark, is crucial to becoming better than we were yesterday. At our shop, we encourage team members to ask questions and experiment with new processes. Why play it safe when each failure is an opportunity for improvement?
4. Making Sure Our Customers Enjoy the Journey, Too
Our upbeat attitude translates to all our customer interactions. We have fun on phone (or video!) calls. We make time to connect and let customers know how much we enjoy working with them. And we make sure that our customers feel taken care of during every step of their experience with us: whether we’re discussing design tweaks or delivering their finished parts. After all, our sheet metal fabrication company wouldn’t be where we are today without our customers.
At Approved Sheet Metal, we come to work happy every day. We’re always excited to take on the next challenge—and enjoy the journey of tackling it. If this approach resonates with you, let’s work together!
